Petax K100d Super - My Thoughts

For those who are into really old 6 megapixels CCD sensors like the one found in the D40 series from Nikon as well, this camera might be another camera to consider. Despite it's technical limitations, it still can be an enjoyable camera to use. I will be sharing my thoughts with you all based on my shooting experience and I hope that you all can enjoy and/or gain something from this video! :-) ...

In this video, I am sharing my thoughts on the Brightin Star 50mm f/0.95! Usually I use my RF 50mm f/1.2 but f/0.95 takes brightness and background blur to an entirely new level. Despite the fact that I am not into 50mm focal length but I have to say that this lens did blow my mind! So in this video, I will be sharing with you my thoughts on this lens in case you might find it useful. :-) I hop...

    Preciate your take on this. Thought about trying a Sony DSLR but never got around to it. Cool thing is it can accept Minolta autofocus glass and I’ve heard good things about the price/performance ratio. Do you suppose it’s easy to find accessories like flash and extra batteries? Did the menu diving get on your nerves after a while? I might revisit the lens lineup to see if there’s anything interesting.

    The 1D Mark III had a reputation of having a terribly flawed AF system. I recall complaints from photographers at the Australian Open tennis where the III did pretty well with action, but during award presentations would not hold focus on the non-moving subjects. The fact that it was blisteringly hot also had something to do with the bad AF. In any case a few years later I had the opportunity to buy a used III and the owner allowed me to try it out. I shot a pro basketball game with the III during the first quarter and then switched (just in case) to my 1D Mark IIN for the second. At half time I uploaded the III's card and had a look. They were terrific, and I didn't even bother to upload the other card. The whole time I had the III the AF gave me no problems. Were there any shots out of focus? Of course, and that's always going to be the case with any camera. But the AF from my IIN was the best AF I had ever used and the III's was just as good, or better. Now I wasn't faced with using the III under extremely hot temperatures so that may still have been a problem.

    I'm not sure if the D80 has the ability to assign a custom function to the Fn key below the lens but, on the D90 I've assigned the point metering to that button. This works wonders when assisting in getting point sharp focus.

    I bought Nikon D40, Canon 1000d, and this Pentax K100ds all at around the same time 15 years ago when I decided to plunge into digital SLRs. I kept the Pentax dan have been a Pentaxian ever since. Why? Because Pentax' colors, and because older manual focus Pentax K mount lenses are cheaper and way easier to find than Nikons and Canons.

      I don't think that the ef 24-70mm f/2.8 L, ef 16-35mm f/4 L IS, ef 85mm f/1.2 L II, ef 35mm f/1.4 L and the 50mm f/1.4 lenses are that bad. I am sorry if you find them bad. However, I personally find that they are perfectly good with the Canon 1d mark iii especially for the resolution that the 1d mark iii has to offer. Furthermore, those lenses have their strengths and weakness depending on the focal length, distance of the subject, which aperture you use, etc. If you can work around the weaknesses, then those lenses will deliver even better results. But I thank you very much for watching and for your opinion. I will do my best to improve my future contents. I wish you a good time, stay safe and have fun shooting

    I’m really debating if I should get the 5D MKII or this camera

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls 18 днів тому

      I personally would get the 5d mark ii because I personally prefer the colours of the 5d Mark ii. Furthermore, it is a much smaller and lighter camera so you'll more likely to take it out to shoot more with it. The 5d mark ii's sensor is also better than the 1ds mark iii's sensor (Canon even said then when they launched the 5d mark ii) is the dynamic range, colour depth and colour accuracy (though, being both high-end sensors from that time period, the difference isn't too noticeable). That said, if you do need the bigger camera, better autofocusing system and dual card slots, the 1ds mark iii would be the camera for you. I hope that helps, it's only my opinion though so please don't take it too seriously. I thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

    also the Revue ML is the western german version

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls 18 днів тому

      The west German version is the Praktica MTL 5). According to my understanding after researching about the companies is the Praktica was the Wester German counter part where the Revue is the East German part that had their manufacturing plant in Eastern Germany (with the main headquarter and factory in Dresden). If you look underneath the cameras from both Revue and Praktica, you will also see that the Revue cameras were manufactured in the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) and the Federal Republic of Germany (though some of the cameras will just say Made in Germany) which was West Germany. This is my understanding though which I understand that I of course can be wrong. Thank you very much for watching though as well as for commenting. I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting :-)

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls 18 днів тому

      I think for general purpose of shooting Safari, it will get the job done for sure as it allows you to get from semi wide to telephoto range with just a lens. Furthermore, the 50D's autofocusing system is still good to tracking general animals in the wildlife, so I am sure that when used properly, you will come back with a lot of good images. :-) I hope that helps.
